Canon Claire Wade is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
For the past years, a group of us at St. Thomas have gathered in the chapel to say Compline (Prayers at the end of the Day) on New Year's Eve. Compline in the church, is the final service of the day and will be the final service of our calendar year.
Join us, New Year's Eve, 7pm as we say goodbye to 2020 and welcome in 2021, via Zoom.
Please RSVP if you are able to join us and the bulletin will be sent to you then.

PS: Please bring your own refreshments for a brief time of visiting after the service which lasts approx. 30 minutes.

For many, Christmas is not the most wonderful time of year . . . .  Christmas can be a time when pain and loss are most deeply felt.
If you have suffered the loss of a loved one or you are experiencing some other kind of loss in your life . . . or simply feeling the weight of our pandemic world . . . .

Take time out to acknowledge your loss and know that you are not alone.

This is your personal invitation to St. Thomas’ annual

ST. THOMAS’ ANGLICAN CHURCH
101 Winchester Road E, Brooklin, Ontario L1M 1B5, Tel: (905) 655 3883
On Sunday, November 29, we begin the liturgical season of Advent. We will light a candle each week as we prepare to remember and celebrate the First Coming of Christ as a baby in Bethlehem. We also look in hope for Christ’s Second Coming.
On Sunday, our candle lighting liturgy will be followed by BCP Communion.
As we continue to observe Covid19 protocols, beginning next Sunday, the maximum number that can be present for in-person worship has decreased to 50.  To control numbers, you must pre-register for church.  We will use the Eventbrite tool each week to invite you to reserve your place in church on a "first come, first served" basis.
The link you will need to do so and other instructions is below:
https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/130519564531
Please follow the instructions carefully and book yourself (and family) for the service.
Appreciate your kind cooperation as we follow the protocols prescribed to stay safe and healthy as a worshipping community.
Advent Blessings,

Claire+

Feed the Need Food Drive. Next Sunday, November 29th

The church will be having a food drive for Feed the Need. A barrel will be located between the double doors to collect your non-perishable food items. Please leave your non-perishable food items in the collection barrel as you enter. The youth will also be donating $500.00 raised from bake sales to Feed the Need. If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Clouter or Mike and June Scott through the office.

Brooklin's Christmas Giving
As in the past, St. Thomas will be joining Brooklin United in a joint Christmas giving project. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, instead of items for hampers, we will be collecting donations of money and/or grocery and gift cards for distributions to families in need this Christmas. A receptacle for donations will be available next Sunday. Also, if you know of any families that may be in need of support this Christmas, please contact Philip Greer or Laurie Yates. so we can get them on the list.

Nov. 8, 2020
Morning Prayer will be reinstated on Wednesday mornings, starting next Wednesday,November 11, which Canon Claire will lead as before via Vidyard video, sent to your Email on Wednesday mornings. A bulletin will also be attached so that you can follow along.

Sunday, November 8, is Remembrance Sunday. Our service will include “An Act of Remembrance” followed by BCP Communion. As you are aware, we are approaching a new liturgical year –

Advent begins on Sunday, November 29 – “the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” That means that Christmas is also on its way!
How will we celebrate Christmas in church this pandemic year? Perhaps 2 services on Christmas Eve (a special Childrens’ Service and an adult service) with enough time between services for cleaning and sanitizing! We will have to take reservations to control numbers! This is now a “work in progress”, you will be kept posted as to the details. We will, of course, maintain our online presence! Boy, will we miss singing Christmas carols! We will see if we can come up with some creative means to address that! We will consult the bishops!

 ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • RE-OPENING OF ST. THOMAS CHURCH FOR SERVICES
    SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2020

    FINAL GUIDELINES & PROTOCOLS
    (AUGUST 31, 2020)

Please find below our Guidelines and Protocols re the opening of St. Thomas Church for worship on Sunday, September 13 at 10AM. The date is fast approaching. Since March, we were instructed by the bishops of the Diocese to cease all services of worship in our church buildings, due to COVID 19. We have not worshipped together, in church, for 6 months!
In response, together with a dedicated group of 5, that was allowed at that time, we switched to online worship. We would not want to disappoint the hundreds who have been following us on Youtube and/or those who, for health and other reasons, will find it difficult to worship in-person with us. Our services will be recorded and sent out to our faithful following!
May I remind you that our service on September 13 will not be what we have been accustomed to; we must await word from the bishop as to how long we will have to conduct worship in this way. We will begin and see how and where the Spirit leads us – we will see how things play out. At first, it may seem cumbersome and awkward - things are new and different but we will get into it and it will become, almost routine; it will become our new normal. We may even realize that it is not half as foreign as we feared!
We have compared our Draft Plans (1,2) for St. Thomas  that you have received before, with the final Guidelines and Protocols sent out by the Diocese, August 19. We are in full compliance with the guidelines and protocols provided by the Diocese, put in our St. Thomas context. Come, let us gather together for worship in God’s house. We know that when we do, God by God’s Spirit is with and among us – as individuals and as a congregation -- to love us, to forgive us, to bless us and to send us out in power to do God’s work in the world.
